This week on Gospel Points we will be talking about civil disobedience. When is it ok to disobey the civil authority God has placed in your life? Our guest is Pastor Matt Trewella of Mercy Seat Christian Church in Milwaukee. He is also the founder of Missionaries to the Pre-Born and the author of the book, the Doctrine of the Lesser Magistrates, the book at the center of our discussion. Check out the website at https://lessermagistrate.com
On this week’s episode of Gospel Points we finish up our look at Christians and depression with our final segment with Pastor Jim Oakley. Last week Jim walked through his personal journey and in this segment he takes us through the Scriptures for encouragement and strength. Be sure to check out his blog at www.pastorjimsblog.weebly.com
On this week’s edition of Gospel Points we continue our look at depression from a Christian perspective. Listen in as Pastor Jim Oakley describes his own personal journal and the struggles he has experienced. In our conversation we encourage Christians to strip away the mask of fake happiness and be real about our issues. We also discuss when to consider seeking medical attention and wrestle through the question of medication. Check out Pastor Jim's blog at http://pastorjimsblog.weebly.com
This week on the Gospel Points podcast we continue our look into the issue of Christians and depression. Our latest installment features an interview with Pastor Chris Brauns of the Red Brick Church in Stillman Valley, IL. The interview took place a few years back as a follow-up to a message Pastor Chris preached during a chapel time at Rock County Christian School. So listen in and hear answers to such questions as, is depression a spiritual or medical issue? Is depression a sin? What are the causes of depression? What is the spiritual condition of those who take their own life?
This week begins our next series on the Gospel Points Podcast, Christians and Depression. For this first installment we will hear from Dr. David Murray, Professor of Old Testament and Practical Theology at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary. Dr. Murray is also the author of Christians Get Depressed Too (Buy it here - http://amzn.to/2cxRpTe ). Listen in as Dr. Murray shares with us a little bit about his wife’s struggles and then gets into depression’s symptoms and causes along with some practical helps.
This week we conclude our look at the 2016 presidential election with a few words from Libertarian Party nominee Gary Johnson. Back during his 2012 campaign I was invited to be a part of his monthly blogger conference calls. We were allowed to ask whatever we wanted which gave me the opportunity to probe him a little bit on issues that would be of interest to Evangelicals like myself. So, we talked about his faith, abortion, gay marriage and then the question of where government gets its authority from. So, if you have been considering a vote for the Johnson/Weld ticket, this is the podcast for you! You’ll find Governor Johnson to be kind and engaging.
Our look into the 2016 presidential election continues with our second and final segment with Tom Hoefling of America’s Party. Last week we spoke mostly about Tom’s passion to defend the rights of the unborn. This week we learn more about America’s Party and the differences between it and the Constitution Party. We also chat about Christianity’s relationship to our American concept of freedom and the so-called faith of Donald Trump. Don’t worry, of course we had to ask, is a vote for Tom Hoefling really a vote for Hillary Clinton?
This week we are joined by Tom Hoefling as we continue our look into the 2016 presidential race. Mr. Hoefling is the America’s Party candidate and on the ballot in several key states. While the scope of our interview runs the gamut of different issues, it’s clear that this candidate’s passion is to defend the rights of the unborn. This is not merely a political issue in his mind. So, in this first segment we focus on the issue of abortion and the fight to uphold life. Trust me, you won’t want to miss this episode. Tom’s heart for this is inspirational and hopefully contagious.
It’s the battle of the podcasters! No, not really. But, this week we welcome to the podcast, Scott Oakland, the co-host of the LutheranCast. I greatly appreciate Scott’s love of the gospel but we seem to be worlds apart concerning this election season. While I am a staunch #neverTrump guy, Scott was actually an early supporter the Trump campaign. So listen in as we hash out some of our differences and even dip into a little bit of theology, briefly touching on the Lutheran view of the Two Kingdoms doctrine.
This week we are again joined by Constitution Party Presidential nominee Darrell Castle. This Week Mr. Castle answers questions that you, our listeners, sent in ahead of time. So listen in to the hear where he stands on Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson, mandatory vaccinations, a possible Constitutional Convention, how Christian values can be enforced on non-believers and many other questions. If you are a #neverTrump voter like me, you won’t want to miss this episode!
